It's Release Day for AVERY!
+ a quick catch-up because my brain's mush ♥︎
Whaaaat? No, I didn’t fail to announce my book release until 7 PM.
Who could possible be so careless about their own book release? Not me, certainly not I.
As the clock ticks itself closer to 8 PM, I flicker back and forth between publishing this piece or not. My release day felt like any other Monday, to be honest.
I clocked in, nursed my symptoms, drank my water, and clocked out.
Shoutout to Azalea Valaine 🇯🇲💘 for giving me the tough love needed to peel my laptop open after a long, neck-craning day staring at my screen.
She inspired me to think beyond the last few shitty days—and, admittedly, the last few weeks—where I struggled to write, market and release AVERY. Instead, she had my mind reeling back to the before.
To the girl who would’ve killed to see “author” next to her name.
Tired and burned out as I am, I’m trying to acknowledge her today.
AVERY VS THE CAIN COMPLEX is her book as much as it’s mine. Sure, I’m ten years her senior—she was fifteen, by the way—but Younger Malayka had the idea first. I just happened to write The End for her.
So, without further ado . . .
Happy Release Day to AVERY!
The last few weeks have been such a blur. That’s not just limited to the hurricane, my recent illness (+ a VERY slow recovery) and prepping for a release. I’ve been so caught up with life, sickness and all the hell between, that I’ve neglected the stuff that actually matters.
I made my Younger Self proud today. I’m a published author. 🥹
To all who signed up for ARCs, I’m so sorry for the delay! Today was the first time I touched my laptop in nearly a week—soooo you’ll receive your e-copy this week, a little later than I would’ve hoped.
If you’re no longer interested in reading it, I totally understand.
Thank you so so so much everyone!
Now, I go nap.
The rivalries among sibling assassins spiral so far out of control that they set their sights on each other, starting first with their brother.
Avery Valdis hasn’t done his father proud. Now, his family wants him dead.
When a client needs someone killed, they turn to the Valdis Syndicate. But, Avery’s string of failed assassinations hasn’t just tarnished his own name. It’s damaged the reputation of the entire family. Father can tolerate that no longer.
Targeted by his own siblings at Father’s command, Avery is forced to fight back. In doing so, he discovers an unsettling family secret that could destroy ordinary life at the Syndicate. Does he dare bring down the entire clan? Or can he restore his honor before his brother and sister fulfill Father’s command?
Written for fans of toxic family dynamics, the black sheep trope and deadly sibling rivalries, AVERY VS THE CAIN COMPLEX blends elements of low dystopian novels against the backdrop of a domestic thriller.
